One thing that I like about autumn are those clear and crisp sunny days when all the leaves of the trees are afire with colours from the lightest yellow to the deepest burgundy. Not that there is much of that here at the moment, we have grey skies and pouring rain.
Då är omslaget till senaste Knit Now mycket trevligare.
A much happier sight is the cover of the latest Knit Now.

Although if it is cold enough for me to want to wear a cowl and pretty cuffs, I'd probably want a cardigan too to cover my arms.

Now, this is more like it. The set – cuffs, cowl and hat – is called Aurei, Latin for "golden" (or goldens actually, it's plural)

It started with a stitch-pattern from a German book that I thought was pretty, but I had no idea what to do with it. I knit a swatch, and I held it in various ways to look at it. At one point I happened to hold it over my wrist, and I saw that it would make very pretty cuffs. I tried it in a variety of colours, but nothing was quite right until I tried this golden colour in Colinette Jitterbug.

I realized that I wanted a cowl to go with the cuffs. Let me tell you, getting just the right amount of flare at the bottom was an exercise in patience. But I think it was worth it.

Getting the hat to work was a lot easier.
